Research Team Leader - DRS (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. -
Boston, Massachusetts): Coordinate complex requests for BCG’s Data and
Research Services group (DRS) to support the company’s consulting
services with a focus on the Energy and Manufacturing sectors. Specific duties
include: direct research request coordination, resource deployment and
workload balancing for relevant industry and sectors; serve as DRS team
resource and execute more complex research requests requiring greater
knowledge of relevant industry topics and source/database expertise in
energy and manufacturing; coordinate team assignments, including scoping
of requests, identifying appropriate research strategy, assigning
resources to accomplish tasks based on employee skill level and
development opportunities/case needs; orchestrate smooth collaboration
between knowledge team divisions to provide optimal responses to case
teams; act as a primary point of contact for Consulting staff and ensure
the highest levels of customer service; drive quality assurance and
quality control (QC); identify gaps and lead initiatives to improve
overall DRS quality; track DRS activity and liaise with Practice Areas to
understand emerging needs; develop and introduce new services/service
enhancements; provide the “face of the DRS†to consulting teams promoting
the DRS mission and capabilities; and develop a team of researchers,
ensuring quality control and apprentice-based management. Requires a
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business Administration, Public
Policy, Information Science or related field (willing to accept
foreign education equivalent) and seven (7) years of corporate
research experience within professional services firms, academia,
government or equivalent. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative
experience requirement not applicable to this section) - must possess
the following: (i) Performing complex research and analysis
including research of markets, industries, company strategy, and
executives; (ii) Utilizing research tools including databases and content
published by third parties (e.g. Bloomberg, Thomson, Orbis, Cap IQ, Factiva
and other sector related sources); (iii) Performing knowledge management;
(iv) Coordinating research projects and initiatives including
research efforts of junior researchers; (v) Performing business
development; (vi) Evaluating team performance metrics; (vii) Relationship
management of internal research teams within an organization; (viii) Quality
control assurance, including evaluating research outputs for quality
and consistency and outlining researcher approaches and
methodologies; (ix) Expanding and improving the research services and/or research
product portfolio of an organization; and (x) Using data to assess
opportunities for research efficiencies and new business lines. Must have unrestricted authorization to work in U.S. M-F, 9:00 a.m. to
