Responsibilities for this Position Structural Welding Instructor - Per Diem US-RI-North Kingstown Job ID: 2021-4206 Type: Full-Time # of Openings: 6 Category: Building Trades EB Quonset Point Facility Overview QP Training (D973) is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Structural Welding Instructors for the Welding School. This position will report to the Supervisor of the Weld School and play an integral role in the training and qualification of welding students. As D973 works to meet the hiring demands of operations, several initiatives are being explored to increase the capacity of the welding school during peak needs. Welding training locations will vary as new sites are setup and approved. These positions are intended to support the short term need for more capacity. As peak needs subside, instructors will be reassigned to other applicable openings within the weld school or loaned back to production. The Welding Instructor will be part of a team, responsible for the training of students in various courses related to general safety various welding process and wire types, as well as additional welding related requirements. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedure Compliance, be a self-starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Applicants must possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor. Responsibilities & Duties - The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to: * Instructing multiple welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, AWPSS and Safety Briefs * Directing and assessing hands on training with practice and tests * Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits * Support off site training programs with classroom training and test proctoring * Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents * Supporting various course content reviews and related activities * Conducting assessments as scheduled * Meeting with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed * Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics * Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues * Supporting special training projects as required * Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned * During times of low training demand, instructors maybe assigned back to production Work Schedule The selected candidate will be expected to work the following work schedule: * Work Hours * 3 Positions - 2nd shift hours approximately 3:00pm 12:00am * flexibility to adjust hours as necessary to support business need is a must * 3 Positions - 3rd shift hours approximately 11:00pm 7:30am * flexibility to adjust hours as necessary to support business need is a must * Ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends) * Ability to participate in business travel * The individual must be flexible to support short term training assignments on all shifts as needed * During times of low training demand, instructors maybe assigned to production Responsibilities * Remain extremely flexible regarding work locations including the potential need to drive to off-site welding schools. * Have a strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex assignments * Have a strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom environment * Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills * Have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) * Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment * Have a strong commitment to teaching others and leading student classes * Have a demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedure compliance * Have a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed * Have a willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of learning abilities * Be comfortable with new teaching technologies and willing to adapt to new teaching approaches * Must be able to stand for long periods of time * Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required Qualifications Required: * High school diploma or equivalent * Minimum of 3 years of welding trade experience * Be able to qualify for respirator qualifications * Must be a current QP hourly employee Preferred: * Advanced educational course work including * certifications, associates or other advanced education degree * Instructing/teaching experience * Currently qualified & proficient in 3 or more welding processes, including mechanized welding * Experience with structural non-destructive testing * Experience in AWPSS * Proficiency with communication & virtual technologies
