General Summary: Responsible for the planning, directing, and implementation of all special education services within the Briggs School including the overall administration and supervision of classrooms.Job Requirements: Responsibilities :

• Supervise and plan the development, implementation, and evaluation of all special education programs provided at the Briggs School in conjunction with the program manager;
• Responsible for interviewing, screening, formulating, training and orientation of new program staff in conjunction with program manager;
• Interpret and enforce all Special Education policies and regulations stated by the Rhode Island Department of Education;
• Assist the Program Manager in the planning and monitoring of the day-to-day functions in the school. In the absence of the Program Manager, provide leadership to the school;
• Ensure that treatment planning and clinical record keeping are consistent with standards established by the Center;
• Provide supervision and administration of the curriculum within the school;
• Provide direct supervision to teachers, teaching assistants, and student interns on a weekly basis. Completion of staff evaluations in conjunction with program managers;
• Assist in projecting recommendations for the annual budget;
• Responsible for all educational matters including compliance with Special Education regulations, procurement of grants, training opportunities;
• Represent the school at all IEP meetings;
• Provide program representation to public and private educational organizations
• Administer academic diagnostic testing to all students as needed and provide comprehensive analysis and recommendations Requirements: Master's Degree in Special Education required. R.I. Certification as an Administrator of Special Education (provisional or professional). At least 3 years as a Special Education Teacher required and 1 year as a Special Education Coordinator preferred.
