Job Description SummaryBASIC FUNCTION:

Lead the Healthcare Workforce Development initiatives of the University of Rhode Island. Drive organizational change, revenue, partnerships, innovative initiatives, and strategic growth for post-graduate education across the health discipline spectrum. Work closely with a range of stakeholders to develop and support the educational needs of health professionals throughout Rhode Island and the region.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead operation and strategic direction of the Office of Healthcare Workforce Development.

Directly oversee and supervise the coordinators, staff, and consultants in the OHWD.

Lead and grow both academic and non-academic partnerships, certificate programs, and for-profit programs. Place special emphasis on continuing professional development (CPD) programs that are interdisciplinary in nature.

Collaborate with internal and external health stakeholders to offer local and national health professional development programs.

Manage the OHWD staff and scheduling to assure the necessary resources to meet the needs of professional programs. Supervise, motivate, and develop professional staff, administrative support staff, student workers and interns.

Direct the OHWD office activities, record keeping and operations to ensure compliance with the applicable professional standards and continued accreditation status.

Ensure that accreditation deadlines for approval of and reporting of continuing education program participation are met.

Interact with the health industry, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations in order to better fund and conduct CPD programs.

Identify CPD grant funding activities, submit appropriate proposals, and manage funded CPD programs.

Interface with URI Alumni Association staff and URI Foundation development personnel as required.

Contribute to professional outreach and external communication efforts, as appropriate.

Take a leadership role in creating innovative educational opportunities for professional health learners including, but not limited to, innovative non-credit programs, programs for URI alumni and preceptors, and corporate partners.

Work with the Provost, URI Deans of degree granting colleges, department chairs and directors of academic and non-academic units to grow professional programs for health professionals. Work with AHC Director, faculty, and staff to develop interdisciplinary certificate programs at the post-graduate level.

Create revenue generating professional development projects and opportunities.

Develop and maintain financial resources to assure a sustainable Office.

Lead all facets of program planning, and evaluation (i.e., design plans, develop assessments, collect data, analyze data, and report results.)

Support faculty and staff in the development of medical education grant proposals and evaluation plans in the area of continuing professional development in the health professions.

Respond to and participate in RI State Departments' initiatives, particularly in relevant health workforce transformation and development activities. Provide oversight as required, develop program planning, and monitor and assess outcomes.

Serve as a University representative to workforce development committees and initiatives, as necessary.

Facilitate strategic planning sessions and other organizational initiatives.

Participate in University committees and meetings, as necessary.

Oversee the marketing and promotion of CPD programs.

Oversee the development and maintenance of technological solutions including URI's CPD learning management system, audience engagement systems, and digital media.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers; word processing, database management and spreadsheet software. LUX Learning Management System (LMS); CPE Monitor Service.

Required QualificationsRequired:

1. Master's degree in Adult Education or Business Administration or related field.

2. Minimum of five years' experience managing accredited continuing education programs for health professionals.

3. Minimum of three years of event planning experience showing increasing program responsibility.

4. Demonstrated experience managing a budget.

5. Demonstrated supervisory experience.

6. Demonstrated ability to work independently.

7. Demonstrated ability to work with other professionals and faculty members to identify and develop inter-agency relationships.

8. Demonstrated ability to work with other professionals and faculty members to build program planning committees.

9. Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts.

10. Demonstrated knowledge of state and national laws relative to health continuing professional education requirements.

11. Demonstrated technology project management experience (i.e., LUX Learning Management System (LMS), CPE Monitor Service, etc.).

12. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

13. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

14. Willingness and ability to travel to scheduled events.

15. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
