Job Description:
Job DescriptionThe (PACU) Registered Nurse is responsible for
assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care
from the operating room to discharge. The Registered Nurse is
responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through
implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the
mission, vision, and values of OrthoRI.Duties and Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:1. Delivers safe patient care
according to OrthoRI policy and procedure2. Assesses, plans,
evaluates, and ensures the implementation of the patient's care to
achieve identified outcome, and reviews on an ongoing basis3.
Coordinate's nursing interventions to enhance achievement of
expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge4.
Demonstrates ability to direct and provide for patient care in
emergency situations5. Utilizes specialized nursing knowledge,
nursing process and discriminative judgment while giving direct or
indirect care6. Assigns patient care responsibilities based on
patient needs and abilities of available staff.7. Demonstrates
appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills
identified for position in post anesthesia patient care duties.8.
Monitors vital signs, recognize emergencies, and notify
Anesthesiologist9. Checks dressings, drains, tubes and patency of
catheters as appropriate10. Assists with postoperative patient
calls11. Reviews charts for completeness and administers and
medications as ordered by physician12. Assists with cleaning of
preoperative and recovery room areas according to policies and
procedures13. Checks inventory and notifies appropriate staff
member to re-order14. Demonstrates the proper discharge care per
the OrthoRI guidelines15. Attends and participates in all
applicable facility training and development workshops scheduled by
the facility16. Communicates patient information to assure
confidentiality and continuity of care.17. Documents all patient
information according to established standards and provides
pertinent information confidentially to physicians, family and team
members involved18. Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment
and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting
an unsafe situation19. Performs all other duties as assigned by
