Licensure - ARRT Certification – Required - Massachusetts State
License – Required Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Provide
patient education to maximize patient compliance with his/her plan
of care and provide family education when needed. 2. Monitor
patient’s physical and physiological response to treatment and
refer the patient for appropriate management when indicated. 3.
Demonstrate respect for patient confidentiality, modesty, and
privacy. 4. Administer radiation therapy treatment accurately and
safely; monitor and report reactions, therapeutic responses, and
inconsistencies. 5. Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the
principles of growth and development from infant through the
geriatric stage of life span. 6. Assess patient relative data
pertinent to age-specific needs and provide care as described in
the department policy and procedure manual. 7. Position,
immobilize, and align patients according to the treatment plan and
effectively evaluate and solve set-up problems. 8. Maintain logs
and daily treatment records, including accurate documentation of
all treatment procedures. 9. Possess knowledge of all scheduling,
treatment, and billing procedures involving the Record and Verify
System; can troubleshoot and consult with appropriate personnel to
resolve discrepancies. 10. Understand the function of equipment,
accessories, treatment methods, and protocols and apply knowledge
appropriately. 11. Work with the Sr. Radiation Therapist to resolve
clinical problems. 12. Utilize a quality assurance program to
encompass all aspects of treatment delivery and quality patient
care. 13. Instruct and orient new Radiation Therapists, students,
and other staff members unfamiliar with the department and/or
specific procedures. 14. Adapt contingency plans in response to
variables that influence workload and/or schedule. 15. Demonstrate
cooperation and teamwork and is responsive to all members. 16.
Attend and participate in scheduled Departmental and Therapist
Staff Meetings. 17. Maintain and can provide annual documentation
of the required amount of Continuing Education Credits needed for
licensure. 18. Be an active member of a professional organization;
participate in professional activities by attending meetings,
serving on committees or task forces, and writing and/or presenting
scientific papers. 19. Participate in the clinical instruction and
evaluation of the Radiation Therapy Technology students. Note: “We
