X and YouTube. Job Description The Coordinator, R&D Shipping is
responsible for executing shipping program and technical support
related to domestic and international package processing, tracking,
evaluation, shipping, compliance, documentation and quality. The
Coordinator, R&D Shipping partners with Global Trade Compliance
(GTC), shipping carriers, internal shipping requestors, program
managers, and other AbbVie groups in support of supply chain
material movement. Handles a wide variety of materials including
dangerous goods (e.g. small and large quantities), hazardous
materials, equipment, chemicals (e.g. solids, liquids, gases),
drugs, pharmaceutical product samples, medical devices, special
requests and products globally. Manage business practices and
processes for shipping materials aligned with GTC, R&D, EHS and
other areas. Responsibilities Responsible for compliance with
applicable shipping requirements for international, domestic, (DOT,
DEA, IATA, IMDG, OSHA/GHS), Corporate and Functional policies, and
operating within established shipping processes. Execute and apply
knowledge of material being shipped; including, documentation,
package selection, packing, labeling, carrier selection, tracking,
timeliness, and anticipate / ensure compliance with country
specific requirements, and carrier capabilities / requirements
(e.g. temperature controlled shipment) to assure prompt and
effective transport and receipt Generate, review, evaluate and sign
declaration of dangerous goods, export information, and other
regulatory documentation in support of material shipments on
AbbVies behalf Ensure timely and accurate response to internal
business contacts, GTC, carriers and import / export groups and
follow-up until resolution Interface with functional areas
(logistics, carriers, GTC, EHS, freight forwarders, materials
management, etc.) and act as liaison for internal business partners
Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for dangerous goods / shipping
compliance for; R&D, EHS, GSSC, Operations, Quality, etc. Train
and provide SME technical support assuring compliant shipping
toGSSC, GCLO, Reference Standards, EHS, Clinical Supply, Quality,
and ACPRU. Collaborate and align with GTC, EHS and other compliance
areas to review procedures, integrate best practices, implement new
programs and requirements yielding operational efficiencies, cost
savings, cost avoidances and increased competencies Ongoing
vigilance identifying and implementing process improvements and
applicable job aids affecting shipments Document, track and
maintain records and process charges for each shipment completed
Perform annual shipping program assessment reviewing regulatory
changes, trends, existing processes and packaging requirements.
Qualifications High School Graduate or GED: must be able to read,
understand and enter information into, third party / internal
systems and ability to complete calculations for both metric and
English measurement units 3 years work experience in a supply chain
environment in a shipping role. 3 years of experience in the
pharmaceutical industry, preferably in operations or research
environment. Current training certification in 49 CFR DOT, IATA and
IMDG preferred. Very strong working knowledge applying IATA, DOT,
IMDG, GHS compliance regulations for shipping materials Working
knowledge of SAP-Customs module, electronic shippers declaration
generation, carrier online shipping request platforms, and
processing electronic shipping requests, e.g. AbbVie Oz. Controlled
Drug Associate certification required, or must obtain certification
within 90 days of beginning work Work independently and in teams
with internal / external stakeholders in pursuit of department
goals and objectives Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds, walking,
standing, stooping, and handling heavy containers and operating
moving equipment. Must be able to independently review, and apply
SDS and material information to ensure compliance as required.
