The Academic Progress Coordinator provides persistence and achievement support to undergraduate students. This position primarily supports students experiencing academic difficulties, including those on academic warning or probation, returning from dismissal, or other students identified as needing greater academic assistance. Housed in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) this position works collaboratively with the Office of Advising, the Center for Student Development and the First Year Transitions (FYT) Program, and the Office of Retention. This position reports to the Director of Writing and Learning Services.


Academic Progress Report Initiative:

* Coordinate and administer academic progress reports * Act as a point-person for faculty and staff members when they have questions or need to learn how to use additional functionalities of the academic progress reporting software * Serve as first point of contact for academic progress reports * Manage student cases submitted as Academic Early Alerts through our early alert or conduct management system, including assessing and re-assigning cases to the appropriate office/program to ensure each student issue receives the appropriate response * Collaborate with and provide updates - as appropriate and within FERPA guidelines -to faculty advisors, academic departments, academic advising office, CARE Team, student affairs, and others regarding the academic progress of these students * Work closely with the Director of Writing and Learning services on program administration, reporting, program development * Stay current on best practices in the area of at-risk student support

Academic Coaching:

* Identify and monitor undergraduate students having academic difficulties (Academic Warning, Probation, Returning from Academic Dismissal, or other identified at-risk factors) * Provide academic coaching to students on academic warning and probation, including the creation of academic improvement plans * Provide academic coaching to students in the Ascension program, a specialized first-year support program for students with academic support needs identified in the admissions process * Provide updates on undergraduate students experiencing academic difficulties (Academic Warning, Probation, Suspension) to relevant programs, committees or staff members and academic advisors * Maintain an understanding of current academic and occupational degree requirements and graduation requirements

Peer Academic Coaching Program:

* Collaborate with the Subject Tutoring Coordinator and the Writing Center Coordinator on developing, administering and assessing the peer academic coaching program * Prepare and conduct related presentations, trainings, and workshops on academic success skills for a variety of groups and audiences * Conduct workshops or provide one-on-one coaching to assist students with the development of skills such as time management, note-taking, and organization



* Master's degree required in higher education, student affairs, counseling, psychology, or closely related field * Demonstrated knowledge of academic advising principles, policies and practices, especially as applied to higher education * Established knowledge of student developmental theory and ability to effectively guide students toward setting and reaching goals * Experience with academic technologies used to support student success and advising (e.g. Colleague, Canvas TutorTrac or other student record systems or early alert systems) * Demonstrated commitment to student-centeredness * Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills * Knowledge of FERPA privacy regulations and the ability to handle confidential information * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

* Minimum of 1-2 years full-time academic advising experience


12-months Full-Year. Summer advising and program development
