Saint Elizabeth Community is hiring for a Director of Human
The Director of Human Resources leads and oversees all aspects
of Human Resources of Saint Elizabeth Community and its members.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for strategy,
compliance, direction, coordination, and evaluation of all
activities, policies, and programs related to benefits,
compensation, employment, recruitment and retention, employee
relations, workforce development, performance management, and human
resources information management (HRIM) functions. In addition, the
Director of Human Resources is charged with moving human resources
to the next level of development, seeking out opportunities to
provide contemporary, progressive human resources practices and
strategies in a highly visible way. This position reports to
directly to the President and CEO of Saint Elizabeth Community.
Saint Elizabeth Community is the most comprehensive provider of
care and services to seniors in Rhode Island, offering a full
spectrum of quality care to older adults and people with physical
disabilities. Founded in Providence in 1882, Saint Elizabeth
Community now has nine Rhode Island locations offering apartments
for independent seniors, home care services, adult day centers,
affordable assisted living, skilled nursing and rehab care, and
green house homes (an innovative nursing home concept).

Leadership Team concerning a variety of organizational initiatives
to ensure the attainment of each member organizations objectives;
provides counsel and recommendations regarding the human resources
implications of organization-wide issues, strategies, and
initiatives, planned or instituted.
Provides oversite and works with the team in negotiating of
health insurance contracts
Responsible for the oversite of our self-insured workers'
Serves as retirement plan administrator for Saint Elizabeth
Serves as a member of the Saint Elizabeth Community Leadership
Team and supervises human resources staff
Fosters competence and expertise through hiring, orienting,
managing, evaluating, and developing staff; ensuring performance,
service, and financial objectives are met.
Provides leadership and management in all aspects of human
resources including workforce planning and development, employee
recruitment and retention, employee relations, performance and
productivity, training and organizational development, compensation
and benefits, and compliance.
Promotes positive work environment and work conditions, develops
and implements service excellence and recognition programs with
creativity, evaluates and enhances employee satisfaction
measurement system, and facilitates organizational improvement
initiatives. Ensures that service excellence strategies result in
enhanced employee and patient satisfaction.
Enhances employee orientation, performance evaluation process,
and institutes techniques for fostering, recognizing, and rewarding
desired workplace behaviors and methods that align reward with

development, staff-level training needs, designing and implementing
Provides one-on-one counsel and coaching in leadership
Develops and administers HR policies and procedures. Maintains
human resources statistics for administrative and regulatory
purposes and ensures that data is current, accurate, and

regulatory compliance, and interpretation of human resources
policies and practices. Coordinates the regulatory and
accreditation compliance program with regard to human resources,
identifying areas of non-compliance and initiating plans of
correction. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local

information acquired regarding the personal, financial, medical, or
employment of employees.
Maintains ongoing professional self-development and growth to
ensure an advanced level of knowledge of contemporary human
resources management practice.
The ideal candidate is a strategist and tactician with a

management. With strong organizational and people skills, this

Education and Experience :
BA/BS in HR, Business, or Hospital Administration. PHR/SPHR a
Minimum 10 years progressive leadership experience in HR
administration with demonstrated track record building and leading
effective, cohesive teams, preferably in healthcare.
Strong understanding of complex staffing issues and statistical
knowledge, as well as labor relations.
Thorough knowledge of state and federal employment laws, labor
laws, OSHA regulations, as well as regulations related to pension
administration, compensation, and benefits.
Expertise in all areas of HR management; knowledge of current
trends and practices, and HRIS.
