Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Creative Manager - Print is responsible for developing creative strategy to deliver the company's content and visual presence in support of the company's Mission, Vision, and Values. This role is also responsible for designing and developing materials for use in all areas of marketing and advertising, with a focus on print advertising. As a senior member of the creative team, this role works with other Marketing & Advertising colleagues and associates in other departments, manages print designers, and assists in managing workload and evaluating process improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day-to-day creation of content for the company print flyer, including but not limited to:
  • Print flyer design and support of store signage
  • Design of Run of Paper (ROP) ads and other print advertisements

  • Manage workload for the print and design teams. Evaluate current processes and make recommendations to improve efficiency and teamwork. Coordinate assignment of work across the design team
  • Support development of new advertising campaigns across OSJL channels. Design new campaign concepts that can be implemented across multiple platforms in support of new promotions or charitable events
  • Drive best practices in design across the extended creative team. Develop and propose updates to content and graphics to maximize performance while introducing new technologies and best practices
  • Support occasional work across other creative departments including but not limited to email, social media, digital display, and the OSJL website and mobile platforms and package design
  • Manage the group responsible for best practices and creation of the print flyer. Manage associate performance, write performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback. As needed, delegate work and follow up with team members to confirm timely completion of tasks
  • Assist with hiring new team members, training new team members and acting as a mentor to coach and develop new teammates

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-10 years design experience required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in design or other relevant creative field required
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio required
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite required; WordPress and Constant Content preferred
  • Deep understanding of traditional and contemporary design standards (typography, UX/UI, color theory, and brand communication) required
  • Knowledge of current Web trends, techniques and technologies required
  • Working knowledge of Macintosh computers required
  • Two or more years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Experience in journalistic and portrait photography preferred
  • Proficient in Google platform (i.e. sites, slides, drive, docs, sheets)

  • Leadership: You are a leader and exhibit that in your everyday work. You pride yourself on developing future leaders; you have direct experience managing others and have been responsible for supporting their performance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
