General Responsibilities:

The EHR Training Specialist is responsible for providing EHR training and support for providers and staff across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or 2-5 years experience in a healthcare related field, using Electronic Health Record (eClinicalWorks preferred)
    • BS in education or at least 2 years of teaching or training experience
      • EHR training certification preferred (training may be offered as a growth opportunity)
        • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
          • Familiar with a variety of the healthcare field's concepts, practices, and procedures
            • Exceptional communication, presentation, writing and interpersonal skills
              • Highly skilled and proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
                • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
                  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a changing environment
                    • Ability to conduct research into software functionality as new features become available
                      • Requires local travel to office sites, valid driver's license, own means of transportation and proof of insurance

                        Communication Skills:

                        • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
                          • Very strong customer service orientation.
                            • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentational skills.
                              • Strong team orientation and willingness to work collaboratively.

                                          • EHR user groups Frequency: As Assigned

                                            Physical Effort/Environment:

                                            • Manual dexterity needed for keyboard work, writing
                                              • Ability to work at multiple, non-traditional settings required.
                                                • Physical mobility and ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

                                                  Work Schedule Demands:

                                                  40-hour week. Woonsocket office is the primary location; with travel to the other sites multiple times per week. Some evening and weekend responsibilities as needed. Must be able to adjust when there is a shift in priorities and work well under pressure. Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

                                                  Confidentiality of Information:

                                                  Confidentiality and adherence to HIPPA requirements must be maintained with patient information and quality information at all times. Frequent access to computer information system and patient information.

                                                  Significant Job Functions:

                                                  • Build strong relationships with end users by serving as a key HIT resource for onsite user support of EHR.

                                                    • Work collaboratively with other Training Specialists, the EHR team and clinical teams in the development of new EHR components to ensure most efficient clinical workflows.

                                                      • Assist with the designing and development of education/training materials to support staff training and continued education as needed.

                                                        • Develop and conduct competencies for new hires and annual competencies for various clinical roles.
                                                          • Identify training gaps and collaborate with HR to ensure the new hire EHR training curriculum up to date.

                                                            • Train providers and staff with low utilization on EHR tools.

                                                              • Provide ongoing periodic training, including hands on training, so that the staff can continue to evolve and support best practices in clinical care.

                                                                • Participate in process improvement activities.

                                                                  • Identify and leverage existing EHR super users to assist with ongoing training efforts.

                                                                    • Maintain current knowledge of functionalities available within EHR.

                                                                      • Assist with the training and rollout of new EHR features.

                                                                        • Assist in creating a climate for identifying and resolving opportunities and issues within the EHR.

                                                                          • Work with the EHR Team to monitor and facilitate new module/application testing and implementation in the clinics.

                                                                            • Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

                                                                              • Keep EHR Optimization Manager informed of training issues and project statuses.

                                                                                • Utilize the HIT help desk to identify and coordinate assigned training requests.

                                                                                  • Attend industry trainings as needed.

                                                                                    • Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
