Laboratory Technician- North Kingstown, Rhode Island 02852Temporary to Hire position--Work hours:

• Monday- Friday, 10:30 am to 7:00pm
• Other shifts may become available upon gaining required level of skillsJob Overview:
  • The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for serial dilutions, sample plating, pipetting, following SOP and aseptic technique.
  • Work with food facility environmental samples (sponges, swabs), perform environmental monitoring in the laboratory. Complete laboratory testing on all incoming samples in an accurate, efficient and timely manner; ensure sample turnaround time goals are met or exceeded.
  • Complete support duties as required (shared across all technicians), involving but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing, waste disposal (including sterilization).
  • Identify non-conformances and out-of-specifications
  • Provide accurate documentation and maintain lab notebook
  • Products varies: meat, fish, powder etc.--Preferred requirements:
    • A degree in any of the following fields: Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
    • Skilled in plating, plate reading and sample preparation.
    • Strong attention to detail, strong sense of urgency or meeting deadlines
    • Experience in pipetting, serological pipettes and using LIMS preferred
    • Able to manage a multitude of small tasks. Good housekeeping skills.
    • Prior work experience in laboratory or food manufacturing environment or restaurants (waiting staff).Minimal requirements:
      • A high-school diploma
      • Basic computer skills and familiarity with general software packages (MS Office for example)
      • Prior work experience required - proven track record of full time or part time work. Hospitality industry highly desired (experience in restaurants or similar).
      • Strong attention to detail, strong sense of urgency or meeting deadlines
      • Able to manage a multitude of small tasks.
